CHR Design Solutions LLC, commissioned by the Liepaja special economic zone authority, has successfully completed the design stage for the project “Reconstruction of Quay No. 46” at the Port of Liepaja.
The quay is planned primarily as a Ro-Ro facility that will allow two ferries to berth simultaneously, with typical vessel lengths of 186 m, 220 m, and up to 240 m. It is also designed to handle general cargo ships up to 180 m in length.
Before fulfilling the construction permit conditions, the project underwent a design expertise, confirming compliance with all technical requirements.
Key Attributes of the project:

1 new dolphin built to accommodate mooring of ships with length reaching up to 240m;

2 new mooring platforms;

new ~550m long anchored sheet pile wall with capping beam to provide design depth of -12.0m;

reconstruction of 17000m2 solid pavement;

dredging works of approx. 50000m3;

design solutions for rainwater sewerage, water supply, power supply, lighting.
Upon completion of the design stage, the project is ready for the commencement of construction works, and CHR Design Solutions LLC will provide author’s supervision until the commissioning of t he facility.
